Request ID: FOI-3824-2324 Date published: 12 March 2024
You asked
As shown in the attached image please note there are no pedestrain lights or buttons. It almost feels like you are taking a chance when crossing as you don't know when the stopped vehicles might move off. I've seen people attempt to cross then turn back as vehicles started moving or turning in from Mile End road (from both directions).
I'd like to know
1. How do you expect the elderly, children or dissabled people to cross this road, or even regular people?
2. When was the most recent health and safetly or other relevant safety audit/inspection carried out for this crossing and what if any finding/suggestions where made?
We answered
TfL Ref: FOI-3824-2324 Thank you again for your request which we received on 23 January 2024. You asked for a safety audit carried out for a crossing at the junction of Mile End Road, Globe Road and Whitehorse Lane. Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Information Regulations (EIRs) and our information access policy. Unfortunately, we don’t hold the information you require.
In terms of current monitoring, I’m afraid we have not carried out a safety audit or inspection at this site. We are limited in terms of internal resources to progress schemes at all locations across London at present. However, should resources become available we will look to take forward work at this crossing.
If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.
Yours sincerely Eva Hextall FOI Case Management Team General Counsel Transport for London
