Please inform me of the number of occasions that Clapham South Underground Station was closed due to the unavailability of station staff in 2023.

Thank you for your request received on 15 January 2024 asking for information about Clapham South London Underground Station.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.
We aim to minimise station closures as much as possible and strive to always exhaust all avenues before making the decision to close a station but we have to ensure the safety of both our customers and our staff. We are aware of the inconvenience that station closures can cause to our customers and only close stations as a last resort, and when we do close them we look to provide onward travel advice to customers (usually directing them to the next nearest open station) to mitigate any impact to people’s journeys.
Clapham South Underground Station was closed 12 times between 01/01/2023 and 31/12/2023 due to unavailability of station staff.
Please note: • The number of station closures provided here are all those instances where the station was fully closed, meaning passengers cannot enter or exit the station, and all train services running through the station non-stopping so passengers cannot interchange either • Station closures are recorded for durations of 2 minutes or more • A station can be closed multiple times during a day. For example once at the start of the day, and then again at the end of the day. This will be recorded as two separate closures
