We answered
TfL Ref: 3596-2223 Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 30 March 2023 asking for information about expenditure on potholes in London over the last five years. Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. You asked for: the total money spent by TFL to contractors to fix potholes in London over the last 5 years? If this is not possible, please let me know how I may refine my request. Our budget for pothole repairs is included in our overall core maintenance service, which is paid as a full lump sum to our Works for London contractors (previously the London Highways Alliance contractors up to and including 2020/21), so we are unable to provide specific data to substantiate monies that have been spent on potholes specifically. In the last five years we spent £42.9 million on defect repairs across the highways network; this includes carriageway, pavements, street furniture and many other safety defects within the red route highways boundary. If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me. Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.
