Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 29 March 2023 asking for information about collisions in Richmond Park.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold some of the information you require.
Personal injury collision data is provided to TfL by the police. The data provided only covers details of collisions occurring on the public highway. We therefore hold information for the roads within Richmond Park which are classified as public highway, but we do not have any details for collisions occurring on footpaths etc.
The latest full years collision data we have is to end 2021, we will have full final 2022 data available later this summer.
Between 2019-2021 we are aware of nine collisions where a pedestrian was injured in a collision with a cyclist. And there are 90 collisions where a pedal cyclist was injured, of these, 42 did not involve another vehicle. These are not mutually exclusive, it could be that where a pedestrian was injured the cyclist was too. But also, one collision may involve multiple people being injured and multiple vehicles.
To get details of the casualty and driver / rider gender we have run two tables as we cannot mix casualty and vehicle variables, however records can be linked by the unique collision id – see attached. The casualty data shows the people being injured, the vehicle data those involved in a collision, again not mutually exclusive if a driver / rider was injured this will show in both data sets.
We do not hold information on any fines issued within Richmond Park. This information may be held by the Royal Parks, or the police.
If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for some reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.
If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely
