Our ref: FOI-3531-2324/GH
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 4 January 2024 asking for information about Bus Stop Usage.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.
Please see the attached spreadsheet for the following information:
For each Bus Stop served by TfL service please provide: - Stop_Code_LBSL – This is the same as Bus Stop Number - Bus_Stop_Code Included (Bus Stop Number) - Naptan_Atco Included (NaPTAN Code) - Stop_Name Included (Bus Stop Name) - Location_Easting Included (Feat Cent East) - Location_Northing Included (Feat Cent North) - Heading Included (Towards) - Stop_Area Included (Area Name) - Virtual_Bus_Stop Included (Bus Stop Number) - The London Borough (including City of London) or Local Authority that the Bus Stop is physically in Included (Highway Authority) - The TfL Bus Services serving the stop Included (Route Number)
- The number of Swipe-Ins recorded at each stop in 2023, broken down by each TfL route serving the stop, irrespective of method of payment or fare paid (including FOC e.g. 60+ Oyster Card). Please see the second spreadsheet showing an overview of the total number of passengers boarding at each bus stop between 1 January 2023 and 31 December 2023 broken down by route.
Please note that these figures only contain passengers who touched in upon boarding the bus using an Oyster Card or Contactless Payment Card. The file only contains data for regular bus routes, meaning that rail replacement services and other temporary routes are excluded.
There are cases where there is demand at a bus stop for a bus route which normally does not stop there, which can occur when a bus serves that stop temporarily during a diversion.
Please let me know if this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for some reason.
If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely
