TfL Ref: FOI-3499-2324

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 2 January 2024 asking for information about traffic accidents on Willoughby Lane.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require.

Specifically you asked:

I would like to know the amount of times emergency services have been requested to attend the scene of traffic accidents on Willoughby Lane N17.

TfL does not hold the requested information. We receive details of personal injury collisions within the London area from the Metropolitan and City police, however it is not a requirement to collect details, such as whether the Air Ambulance is requested. Data is recorded using Department for Transport (DfT) guidance and is generally known as STATS19 data. More details on the recording process can be found on the DfT website. All records must involve injury to at least one person, we do not receive details of damage only collisions.

I would like to know how many times vehicles involved in accidents caused damage to residents property. If any air ambulances were requested to attend the scene I would like to be informed.

TfL does not hold the requested information as we do not receive details of damage-only collisions.

I would also like to know the level of injury sustained by people involved in those accidents.

TfL does not hold the requested information. However, we can provide injury severity for the personal injury collision information that has been passed onto us by the police. Details of which have been provided in the attached PDF file.

I would like to know the total number of accidents that have been recorded on Willoughby Lane since 2013.

For the period between 2013 and August 2023, TfL has been informed of 35 personal injury collisions at Willoughby Lane between Leeside Road and Marsh Lane. These collisions resulted in 37 people being injured (4 seriously and 33 slightly). More details about these collisions can be found in the PDF file attached. Please note that all 2023 records are provisional and subject to change.

The information you have requested for 2017 to July 2023 is also available on our website on page 4 of our Road Danger Reduction Dashboard which allows users to search for collisions within a specified area using the following link: Microsoft Power BI. In accordance with section 21 of the FOI Act, we are not obliged to supply you with a copy of the requested information as it is already accessible to you elsewhere. However, on this occasion, we have provided this information in the PDF file attached.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.
