We answered
Our ref: FOI-3470-1819/GH
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 17 March 2019 asking for information about Zip Cards.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.
Can you please provide me with the number of refunds that have been made for ZIP card replacements due to defective materials in the last 5 years.
No refunds have been issued for ZIP card replacements due to defective materials. This is due to a quality assurance process in place to check the cards before they are printed and again before cards are issued to customers. Any defective cards are then withdrawn so they do not reach our customers.
Please also provide copies of any documents between TFL and the card manufacturer regarding defective card materials including enbrittlement in the last 5 years
There have been no reported issues regarding defective card materials on Zip Oyster photocards so there are no documents between TfL and our card suppliers.
If this is not the information you are looking for please do not hesitate to contact me.
