Request ID: FOI-3384-1819
Date published: 03 April 2019
You asked
We developed a device that illuminates road markings with UK, USA, CHINA & EUROPE patents granted and further patents pending globally.
I would very much appreciate information for the number of Road Studs that are replaced Annually in the UK within your County (the most recent year you have on record would be fine and just one year) could you please specify the year they relate to? It would also be helpful if you could tell me the total miles of roads that you maintain/look after for your County?

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 11 March 2019 asking for information about road studs.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. Unfortunately we do not hold the information you require.
Transport for London (TfL) is responsible for the red routes throughout London, which make up the Transport for London Road Network (TLRN). These routes total approximately 580km. Maintenance of the red routes is carried out by contractors on our behalf. The replacement of road studs is included in the overall contracts and there is no requirement for them to specifically record the number of road studs replaced. We therefore do not hold the information you require.
I am sorry that we are unable to assist you on this occasion.
If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely
