TfL Station Closures (2018-19) including those due to staff absence
Request ID: FOI-3368-1819
Date published: 21 March 2019
You asked
Dear Mr. Hill,
I'd be grateful if you could supply me with a list of all London Underground stations that underwent temporary closure, including the number of times each station was closed, from January-December 2018 and, separately (or clearly demarcated in your data) from January 2019 until the most recent date for which you have collected data.
Could you kindly include a breakdown to show how many of these are due to staff absence and industrial action (please mention if industrial action is counted under staff absence).
Providing that the following does not cause this request to exceed the cost limits set out by the Freedom of Information Act: could you please also include a breakdown of how long each closure was for. If you do not already compile your data in this way, please choose a few sensible categories spread evenly across the range of station closure lengths (e.g. 0-10 mins, 10-20 mins, 20-30 mins etc..)
Thanks in advance.

We capture industrial action separately. We only had one instance where the closure was allocated against industrial action in 2018; the station was overcrowded, caused by a reduced train service on the Piccadilly Line due to Train Operator RMT industrial action rather than station staff industrial action. This is also annotated at the bottom of 2018 table on the first tab. To date in 2019, we have had no closures allocated against industrial action.
The second tab gives the closure details including location, dates, times, duration and whether the reason was due to staffing or industrial action.
