We answered

Our ref: FOI-3352-1819/GH

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 8 March 2019 asking for further information about bus incidents.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.

Of the 15 injuries reported in our response to FOI-3170-1819/GH, two were head injuries suffered by wheelchair users in falls from bus ramps while exiting or entering buses (between December 2012 and November 2017) but our system does not hold information on which part of the ramp falls occurred from. One passenger required hospital treatment, the other received first aid by paramedics at the scene of the incident. We do not hold any further information regarding the severity of the injury.

As previously advised, there is no specific field within our reporting system to indicate specifically falling off the side of the ramp, so to provide you with this information we searched for any incidents  where a fall by a wheelchair user occurred. We then used a key word search to identify the incidents where a “fall from ramp” was mentioned.

All buses in the contracted bus fleet are fitted with ramps that meet UK requirements.

If this is not the information you are looking for, please do not hesitate to contact me.

If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
