I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 regarding the closure dates for the Blackwall Tunnel in London. Please could you provide the following details: A list of all closure dates for the Blackwall Tunnel in 2024, including any scheduled maintenance, repairs, or emergency closures that have taken place so far this year. A list of any planned or projected closure dates for the Blackwall Tunnel in the future, detailing: The specific dates and times of planned closures. The purpose for each planned closure (e.g., maintenance, upgrades, inspections, etc.). Whether these closures are expected to impact both northbound and southbound directions or just one direction.

Thank you for your request received on 8 January 2025 asking for information about Blackwall Tunnel closures.

 

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require. 

 

Please find attached Blackwall Tunnel closure records from September 2024 to 7 January 2025. Please note this data encompasses all types of incidents. It should also be noted that the tunnel experienced closures nearly every day due to both incidents and planned roadworks.

 

The information you have requested on planned closures from April 2024 to March 2025, as well as actual closures from January 2024 up to August 2024 was provided in response to a recent FOI request:
