You asked

Information that we would require over a 3 year period if possible is: 1. No of train operators who have applied for CSS positions 2. No of train operators who have applied for CSM positions 3. No successful in CSM and CSS roles 4. No unsuccessful in CSM and CSS roles 5. What previous experience did the Train Operators have – stations or other operational area. I have requested for this information from Ross Dearman in recruitment but he has informed me that this is a request that needs to be made to FOI.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked:

Information that we would require over a 3 year period if possible is:
 
  1. No of train operators who have applied for CSS positions

31 Train Operators applied for Customer Service Supervisor (CSS) positions.
 
  1. No of train operators who have applied for CSM positions

83 Train Operators applied for Customer Service Manager (CSM) positions.
 
  1. No successful in CSM and CSS roles

8 Train Operators were offered CSM role.
3 Train Operators were offered CSS role.
 
  1. No unsuccessful in CSM and CSS roles

28 were unsuccessful for CSS.
75 were unsuccessful for CSM.
 
  1. What previous experience did the Train Operators have – stations or other operational area

The information you have requested is very specific to the actual individuals and constitutes their personal data. We have therefore taken the decision to withhold it under Section 40 of the Freedom of Information Act, to avoid it being linked to a specific individual.

Disclosure of this personal information could be a breach of the Data Protection legislation, specifically the first principle of the legislation which requires all processing of personal data to be fair and lawful. It would not be fair to disclose this personal information when the individual has no expectation it would be disclosed and TfL has not satisfied one of the conditions which would make the processing ‘fair’.

This exemption to the right of access to information is an absolute exemption and not subject to an assessment of whether the public interest favours use of the exemption.
