Our Ref: FOI-3146-2324
Thank you for your request received on 4 December 2023 asking for information about London Underground station closures on 11 November 2023.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require. We constantly monitor the impact of protests or any other events that might affect our network. Stations can close for a variety of unforeseen reasons such as staff shortages, infrastructure issues, or other customer incidents. We aim to minimise station closures as much as possible and strive to always exhaust all avenues before making the decision to close a station but we have to ensure the safety of both our customers and our staff. We are aware of the inconvenience that station closures can cause to our customers and only close stations as a last resort, and when we do close them we look to provide onward travel advice to customers (usually directing them to the next nearest open station) to mitigate any impact to people’s journeys. On the 11 November 2023 we recorded the following unplanned station closures:

Notes: • Stations closed due to planned maintenance or engineering works taking place are not included in this list. • The data included is based on the station being fully closed meaning passengers cannot enter or exit the station, and all train services running through the station non-stopping so passengers cannot interchange either. • Station closures are recorded for durations of 2 minutes or more. • Timings and cause of closures maybe subject to change pending further review of incidents. • All dates, times, delays and durations are captured manually and should be used as a guide. Small discrepancies in the data are not uncommon. • The fire panel activation at North Greenwich was a malicious activation by customers • The fire panel activation at Bond Street was a faulty fire sensor that was subsequently replaced
