This data represents observed passengers who tapped in with an Oyster card or Contactless payment method at Abbey Road, and their subsequent exit tap was at St John’s Wood. On a typical day, there are over 1,000 entries at Abbey Road DLR station, to put into context how small these figures are.

It’s also important to note that these figures may not have captured everyone making the journey between Abbey Road and St John’s Wood. This is because Abbey Road is an ungated station. Standalone passenger validators are installed for customers to validate their ticketing product. As such any customers who have not tapped upon entry at Abbey Road (including customers with a valid magnetic or paper travel card) will not be captured in this data.

We have also installed a sign at Abbey Road station, informing customers who have travelled to Abbey Road in the hope of seeing the zebra crossing made famous by The Beatles, that they have gone to the wrong location and that they should head to St John’s Wood. Any customers seeing this sign and taking the option to travel to St John’s Wood without exiting the station at Abbey Road, may not tap at Abbey Road and so would not be captured in this data.
