TfL Ref: 2981-2122 Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 30 March 2022 asking for information about face mask poster and signage spend. Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require. You asked: How much has Transport for London spent on posters and signage on the London transport network a, concerning the wearing of face coverings, and b, coronavirus measures in general, since the Government lifted restrictions on wearing face coverings on 27 January 2022? What budget has TfL appropriated for Covid signage and, separately, signage concerning face coverings, for the current calendar year? Costs from 27th January 2022 up to 31 March 2022: (budget for 2021/22) The TfL spend since 27 January until 31 March 2022 on artwork, adapts, print & posting costs for marketing posters on face coverings or Covid-19 measures is £103,236 There hasn’t been any advertising spend as the advertising space we have used for posters is TfL owned or un-booked commercial poster sites, that we get access to use free of charge. There hasn’t been any advertising spend on stickers / signage; we have issued whiteboard posters but these are at no cost as they are produced in house and printed locally at stations. Costs for 2022/23, i.e. coming out of 22/23 budget - this budget covers all associated costs i.e, artwork, adapts, print, post, advertising spend etc. TfL has budgeted£800k to support marketing communications for Covid-19 measures and face coverings to customers from April 2022 to March 2023. (We hold budget information by financial year not by calendar year). In addition to this, TfL owns poster sites and has access to un-booked commercial poster sites across the network, which will be used to promote these messages. These poster sites are free of charge.
