We answered

TfL Ref: FOI-2980-2122

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 24th March 2022 asking for information about Cycleway 50.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.

Specifically you asked:

Would you please be able to provide an update on the status of Cycleway 50 from Tottenham to Camden”.

The Cycleway 50 scheme is proposed to deliver a safe cycle route from Tottenham Hale to Camden and will be designed in three phases:

  • Phase 1: Camden to Finsbury Park delivered in the London Boroughs of Camden and Islington
  • Phase 2:  Finsbury Park to Stanford Hill delivered in the London Borough of Haringey
  • Phase 3:  Stanford Hill to Tottenham Hale delivered in the London Borough of Haringey

Phase 1 is further divided into two sections where the western part (Royal College Street to York Way) within the London Borough of Camden has started construction. The second section will be delivered by TfL and we have budget to and have commenced Detailed Design on the section between York Way and Finsbury Park and expect the design work to be completed by September. Construction of this section is intended to commence later this year - however, this is dependent on a long-term capital financial settlement from Central Government providing sufficient funding within the TfL capital investment programme.

There is currently no budget available to continue the design of Phase 2 and Phase 3 of Cycleway 50 and future budget allocations are dependent on a long-term capital financial settlement from Central Government providing sufficient funding within the TfL capital investment programme.
