The route is operated by Arriva South London under contract to TfL. It is timed to meet the needs of Burntwood School in the Earlsfield area.
It was introduced by TfL in 1999 when one of the journeys on route 689 was re-routed via Herne Hill. At the start of the current contract in September 2011, the journeys between Clapham Common and Burntwood School on route 689 were incorporated into route 690 and route 689 was withdrawn. The section of route 689 between West Norwood and Clapham Common Station was withdrawn.
If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.
