TfL Ref: 2975-1718

Thank you for your email received by us on 3 January 2018 asking for information about Hammersmith Broadway. Please accept my apologies for the considerable delay in responding.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require. You asked for:
- Details of the number and names of trained and certificated first aiders on duty on 2nd Dec between 4pm and 8pm
I can advise that a Bus Station Controller was present at Hammersmith Upper, who is a qualified first aider. The individual’s name has been withheld in accordance with s40(2) of the FOI Act. This is because disclosure of this personal data would be a breach of the DPA, specifically the first principle of the DPA which requires all processing of personal data to be fair and lawful. It would not be fair to disclose this personal information when the individual has no expectation it would be disclosed and TfL has not satisfied one of the conditions of Schedule 2 of the Data Protection Act which would make the processing ‘fair’.

Due to a shortage of staff, there were no staff presence in the Hammersmith Lower area.
- Details of your accident policy and procedures
Attached is the requested documentation. Please note that some information has been withheld in accordance with s40(2) of the FOI Act.
- Details of your policies and procedures for contacting emergency services and for allowing emergence vehicles into the bus station
Any bus driver or bus station controller can contact London Buses’ 24 hour emergency control room, Centre Comm, where they have direct contact with the emergency services. Attached is a copy of the Big Red Book publication that provides guidance for London Buses staff; the Getting Help section explains further.
- Details of the floor surface at the location of the slip just outside the doors leading to the lower bus station (such as the type and construction of the paving slabs)
The floor surface in this vicinity consists of Tarmacadam surfacing and paving in the Marshalls Perfecta range.
- A copy of any risk assessments you have for any slips/falls in that area.
Please see our risk assessment ‘Hammersmith Lower Bus Station RA’ attachment that was conducted in September 2017.
- A copy of any resistance test you may have undertaken for those paving slabs when dry and when damp/wet.
The pathway is in acceptable condition throughout the area in question and presents no issues for concern. Slip resistance testing is not undertaken on pathways and so we do not hold this information.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely
