TfL Ref: FOI-2969-2122 and FOI-3010-2122

Thank you for your requests received by Transport for London (TfL) on 23rd March 2022 and 28th March 2022 asking for information about road works on the North Circular.

Your requests have been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.

Specifically you asked:

On the 22nd of February 2022 I would like to know all road diversions, disruptions and roadworks on the North Circular Road West bound from Wood Green to Brent Cross. The timeframes are from 9pm to 11pm that day. If any part of this road is not under the control of TfL please specify the controlling Borough.”

And;

I would like to know what diversions were in place and where on the North Circular Road on the 22 February 2022.”

The attached spreadsheet shows the records held by TfL of roadworks on the North Circular Road on 22 February 2022. In addition to this we have established that there were a further two potentially disruptive works that were in effect of the night of the 22nd February 2022:

  1. Thames Water (TWU) – emergency burst water main works o/s 14 Brentmead Place (A406). The excavation pit was within lane 3 of the carriageway. However, for both the safety of oncoming traffic and for the safety of the Thames Water employees lane 2 was also taken out.

  1. Section 50 / Major Project – Resurfacing and foul water drainage replacement – Tilling Road (Non TfL - under management of London Borough of Barnet) jw A406 (M1 Roundabout). The permit we have seen on the borough’s road has come under an emergency permit. However, there was likely directional closures in place, diverting onto the A406. This again would have marginally increased the number of vehicles normally seen on the network between the hours of 9-11pm.
