Adrian Hieatt voiced new automated announcements sound files

Request ID: FOI-2964-2324
Date published: 11 December 2023

You asked

Under the Freedom Of Information Act 2000 could i please request a copy of the new Adrian Hieatt automated announcements sound files for the Central Line 1992 Stock trains please. A few months ago you released the new Adrian Hieatt automated announcements sound files for the Bakerloo Line 1972 Stock trains on my request here: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/bakerloo_line_1972_stock_new_aut#incoming-2391767 However i understand that the Central Line 1992 Stock trains are receiving the same upgrade and the same brand new automated announcements. So i would like to request these too. I see that at least one train has received the refurbishment so i believe these automated announcements have been recorded now. So could i please request a copy of these new Adrian Hieatt automated announcements like you gave before but for the Central Line 1992 Stock versions. You already added me to the Share Point so i am happy if you send them via the Share Point like the other files.

We answered

TfL Ref: FOI-2964-2324

Thank you for your request which we received on 15 November 2023, asking for Central Line announcements on 1992 Stock trains, recorded by Adrian Hieatt.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act our information access policy.  I can confirm TfL does hold the information you require.

The Central Line recordings made by Adrian Hieatt are now available on the ShareFile site. They can be found in a folder named ‘Temporary test announcements for Central line’. If you were granted access to the ShareFile previously, you should still have access to it.

These announcements are temporary and are being used for testing purposes on the refurbished Central and Bakerloo line trains. Therefore, once the folder with these announcements is uploaded to the ShareFile site, please be advised that the contents may not reflect our latest customer language and/or insights as they have been recorded for use over a limited time period. We are also actively exploring the use of a female voice for permanent use on the refurbished Central and Bakerloo line trains, which will better reflect our customer research findings.

In accordance with section 21 of the FOI Act, we are not obliged to supply you with a copy of the requested information as it is already accessible to you elsewhere.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for some reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely
