Thank you for your request which we received on 5 December 2024, asking for information about Dial a Ride (DAR).

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require.

For the past 30 days, 53% of our journeys had more than one customer on the bus. The occupancy rate is influenced by the fact that buses will travel distances empty at the start and end of a shift and at times be empty between customers or only have one customer on board before picking up others.

Please find the details of the cost of the DAR service in the table below. We manage our finances according to our financial year which runs from 1st April - 30th March. This provides the most accurate overview of our annual expenditure as there are some costs we only recognise at the end of each financial year and other accrual releases which happen late in the year. Data for the full year for 2024/25 will not be available until after the year end.
