As a new request, please can you provide the equivalent figures for the preceding three years. This will therefore be for monthly total passenger numbers on Heritage Route 15H on weekdays and separately the figures for weekends for 2013, 2014 and 2015.

We answered

TfL Ref: 2852-1819

Thank you for your follow on request from 2456-1819 received by Transport for London (TfL) on 27 January 2019 asking for information about passenger numbers on route 15H in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require.

Please find attached the data requested for the Heritage Route 15H, including passenger journeys information for the period 5.1.13 to 25.12.15.   The data is broken down by Saturday, Sunday and if applicable the Bank Holiday in the same week if there is one.  The other data is the total figure for Monday – Friday (excluding any Bank Holiday).  There is some missing data in a few places arising from the original uploading of data from the ticket machines; this is taken account of in any planning work.

With reference to our previous response under FOI ref 2456-1819, please note that in 2017 the methodology for collation of boarding data changed to improve accuracy of estimating the number of passengers who may not have touched in, in particular those using paper tickets or under-11s.  The data we have attached uses the older methodology.   To ensure back compatibility, the 2016-2017 total boardings were recalculated with the new methodology and these are available on our website for all routes including the 15H, using the following link: https://tfl.gov.uk/cdn/static/cms/documents/bus-service-usage.xlsx

Passenger numbers for route 15H are still very low with a very large subsidy per passenger.  All our work on the current changes are based on the historic trends of usage of the route and not just recent data.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely
