Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 3 February 2023 asking for information about compressed hours.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked: In response to FOI-3469-1920 (March 2020) you provided information that 1477 employees were working compressed hours arrangements. Please could you re-provide this information with up to date numbers? Please could you also break this information down by sex/gender. Please could you also confirm the total number of employees at TfL split by sex/gender.
Please find attached information on the number of people who have a formal arrangement to work 35 hours a week over less than 5 days, broken down by sex. Please note that staff can also have informal arrangements for flexible working.
The proportion of TfL who are female is 24.2 per cent.
Employees may request to work compressed hours on an informal basis following a discussion and agreement with their line manager.
Requests to work compressed hours will be considered in the same way as work from home days, in that requests may be agreed on an informal basis and on a case by case basis only, taking into account the needs of the team and the business.
