Data on some frontline and admin positions broken down by gender and originating position

F/on from FOI-2576 Many thanks for your response to my request and can you also thank the person in HRS who probably had to number crunch for it. I appreciate that it may take people away from their normal day to day tasks. There are three queries I would like to raise regarding the data supplied: 1. Does the data include those who by virtue of a secondment are not currently filling their role? I was of the impression that Stations Admin had 74 positions not the 68 suggested. 2. I didn’t expect the data for Revenue, SRT etc to be broken down but only to capture data for the combined areas. Can you group this and therefore give numbers without having to use the “<10”? 3. I note that the figure for Revenue Control suggests no member of staff originates from an operational position. I believe this may be incorrect as I understand one member of staff was a Station Supervisor at some point. This suggests that perhaps this has been interpreted in a way I did not intend. To eliminate doubt, I ask that for anytime in the individuals career they have worked in the frontline grades I mentioned. Thank you for your email received on 7 December 2017, asking for clarification on some of the information previously provided to you.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.

  1. Does the data include those who by virtue of a secondment are not currently filling their role?  I was of the impression that Stations Admin had 74 positions not the 68 suggested.

The data previously provided was based on positions occupied. Employees who are ADC0 or AG1 that are out on secondment to a different position name are not included. The reverse may be true, if someone is an ADC0 or AG1 and on secondment into an admin role then they will be included in the data, however, generally this would not be the case, because people on secondment keep their substantive grade, so they are unlikely to be an ADC0 or AG1.

We can find nothing in the SAP data extracted to suggest this is the case. Please be aware that position history can only be extracted to 2004 when SAP was introduced. Anything before that is not available.
