Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 8th November 2023 asking for information about the ULEZ scrappage scheme.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.

Specifically you asked:

I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require.

We invite vehicle owners to apply for the scrappage scheme should they wish to replace a non-compliant vehicle, and all the detail of how to do so - including the documentation and proofs required - are on the TfL website via the following link:

Scrappage scheme - Transport for London (tfl.gov.uk)

We do not record the gender of scrappage scheme applicants and therefore we do not hold the information you have requested split by males and females. The following information is therefore for all applicants combined.

As at 15 November 2023 we had processed a total of 99,003 applications to all scrappage schemes.

Of these, 1,268 were rejected for the reason of the applicant name not matching that of the name on the V5C form of the vehicle being applied for. 412 of these rejections were for this reason alone. 856 rejections had this reason in addition to others.

Rejections for the sole reason of the applicant name not being the same as the name on the vehicle V5C is 0.4% of all processed applications.

When an applicant is unsuccessful we explain the reason for the rejection and, if the customer requires further support, they may contact us and we will work with them to offer guidance and support to re-submit their applications or provide additional documentation or evidence as required.

If this is not the information you are looking for please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely,
