Please may I request, as part of the Freedom of Information Act, the following information relating to those employed as Band 4 Engineers in TfL from April 2018 to date:
1) For Band 4 Principal Engineers, Principal Engineering Leaders and Principal Project Engineers, what is the current pay range (upper and lower).
2) What was the starting salary offered to all Band 4 Engineers newly appointed since April 2018 to date. Please categorise them by Principal Engineer, Principal Engineering Leader and Principal Project Engineer.
Please advise if the numbers provided in your response are rounded up our down.

Our ref: FOI-2819-2223/GH Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 31 January 2023 asking for information relating to Band 4 Engineers. Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold some of the information you require.
For Band 4 Principal Engineers, Principal Engineering Leaders and Principal Project Engineers, what is the current pay range (upper and lower).
Please see the table below. Please note that the categorisations you have used (with one exception) could apply to Job names and Position names (the difference being that many Positions could be assigned under a single Job). In the table, references to Principal Engineers or Principal Engineering Leaders are used to refer to a Job category. Only the Principal Project Engineer is a position, therefore these figures will appear within the Principal Engineer Job grouping (anyone who is a PPE is also by extension a PE).

2) What was the starting salary offered to all Band 4 Engineers newly appointed since April 2018 to date. Please categorise them by Principal Engineer, Principal Engineering Leader and Principal Project Engineer. Please see the table below. This lists those who enter the job roles listed above after 01/04/2018. If an employee was already in that Job role before that date, they have been excluded. Employees could be appointed into two or three different roles (an employee who moved from PE to PEL would appear in both sets of figures). Annual Salary is the salary at the time of that person's movement into that job role.
