Bus stops, seating and network demand

Follow-up from TfL Reference: 2291-2223. Dear Jasmine Firstly, I'd like to thank you and your colleagues for all your work in getting that information. It was much appreciated, particularly explaining how some of the data might not be up to date, and that there might be oddities here and there. That is of course understandable for such a lovely big system of busses that you run! However, it's not quite what I hoped for. When I said wanted a spreadsheet, I hoped the information would all be combined on one spreadsheet, rather than on three separate ones. I've spent a lot of time trying to see if the information can be combined, but I don't think it's possible. I don't understand all of the codes, but the big problem is that bus stops have different codes on the three spreadsheets you've sent. I tried to do it manually using the three separate sheets you provided but it is impossible. The codes don't overlap. I've attached my effort to show you. This is the sort of table I would like to receive. Perhaps I did not make it clear what I wanted, so perhaps this will make it easier. My request is: 1) Using the data you've already investigated for June 2022 I'd like a table showing the 50 busiest bus stops that don't have any seating. 2) I'd also like a similar table of the 50 busiest bus stops that do have seating, for comparison. I'd like the two tables to show precisely which bus stop these are. I think the codes you use like 35200, 29907, BP1794, plus the bus stop name, borough code and the stop letter should make it clear to me (as so many bus stops have the same name - there are twelve called 'Avenue Road'). Of course I'd much prefer a single spreadsheet with every bus stop, so I can look at how my local bus stops without seats are used, rather than 'top 50s' but maybe the smaller target will be less arduous for you to compile? Does this make sense? please feel free to clarify any questions that you may have with me before you put the data together to avoid any wasted efforts! if the example table I've sent isn't possible, perhaps send me an example of what you might be able to provide before working too much on it, to ensure it provides what I would like? Once again, thanks very much for all your efforts.

TfL Ref: 2814-2223

Thank you for your request received by us on 28 January 2023 asking for information about bus stops with and without seating, following your previous request for information, TfL Reference: 2814-2223.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require. You asked for the following:

1) Using the data you've already investigated for June 2022, I'd like a table showing the 50 busiest bus stops that don't have any seating.

Please see the attached spreadsheet providing the requested data.

We would also like to add that whilst a bus stop may not have a shelter with seating directly attached to it, we do not keep records of whether a bus stop has a bench or other seating nearby.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely
