TfL Ref: 2804-2223
Thank you for your requests received by Transport for London (TfL) on 30 January and following clarification, 18 February 2023, asking for information about the traffic light phasing for all junctions on existing sections of Cycleway 4.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Information Regulations and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked for:
the traffic light phasing information for all junctions on existing sections of Cycleway 4 used by both cycles and motor traffic. Please send illustrative diagrams where available.
When seeking clarification on whether you would like to have green traffic light times or staging diagrams for every junction as part of the dataset provided, you confirmed that: I’d like both of those pieces of information please.
Please see the attached data from the week commencing 16 January for this Cycleway. Whilst a timeframe was not included as part of your Freedom of Information request, we have selected this date as it avoided the rail strikes, which would otherwise have impacted upon the network.
Please see the attached PDF of all the method of controls for each node and their names, showing which phases are in each signal stage. The other PDF features pivot tables in relation to the dataset given.
The peak periods are:
AM: 0700-1000
IP (interpeak): 1000-1600
PM: 1600-1900
LE (evening): 1900-2400
EM (early morning): 0000-0700
To help interpret the data provided, the following example has been provided accordingly:
Junction 06/060 runs three stages labelled G1, G2 and G3.
The average for the AM period of Stage One is 43 seconds, which is made up of 31 seconds of green time and 12 seconds of interstage time. The sum of the three stage lengths gives the average overall Cycle Time of 89 seconds. If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.
Yours sincerely
