Request ID: FOI-2798-2223 Date published: 28 February 2023
You asked
I am writing to submit a request under the freedom of information act for data held relating to the Queen's funeral arrangements in London last year.
Please tell me:
1) what was the estimated cost to TfL of the Queen's funeral, if any
2) what types of activity relating to the funeral resulted in a cost to TfL, and how much did each activity cost - please present this as a breakdown to question 1, eg staffing costs, expanded capacity on trains/buses, road closures, planning etc
I would like data concerning all activities associated with the funeral proceedings - for instance, the Queen lying in state, transporting the Queen's coffin, the actual funeral procession etc and the days preceding and following.

Our Ref: FOI-2798-2223
Thank you for your request received on 31 January 2023 asking for information about the Queen’s funeral arrangements. Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we do hold the information you require. TfL covered these operating costs through its financial reserves and by fares revenue generated during the mourning period. TfL is also in discussions with the Department for Transport to recover some of the operational costs associated with the funeral preparations.
