As a member of TfL staff I am interested in knowing the cost to TfL, and the types of Awards (Quantity of Bronze, Silver and Gold) awarded to Staff within the NMCC (within the Network Management Directorate) using the TfL Make A Difference Scheme during the periods of: • 1st December 2018 to 30th November 2019. I would also like the data (as above: Cost to TfL and Type) on the same Make A Difference Awards awarded to staff for the previous 5 year period prior to this when the NMCC was previously known as LSTOC from: • 1st December 2013 to 30th November 2018.

Thank you for your email of 12th December 2019 asking for information about the cost to TfL of ‘Make a Difference Awards’ in the Network Management Directorate.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.

Specifically you asked:

“I am interested in knowing the cost to TfL, and the types of Awards (Quantity of Bronze, Silver and Gold) awarded to Staff within the NMCC (within the Network Management Directorate) using the TfL Make A Difference Scheme during the periods of:

  • 1st December 2018 to 30th November 2019.

     

     

    I would also like the data (as above: Cost to TfL and Type) on the same Make A Difference Awards awarded to staff for the previous 5 year period prior to this when the NMCC was previously known as LSTOC from:

     

     

  • 1st December 2013 to 30th November 2018.”

I can confirm that we hold the information you require, which is shown in the tables below.

Note that there are two main parts to the costs of Make a Difference awards, all of which are paid from a Central TfL budget:

  • The voucher costs and associated HMRC liabilities which TfL also covers.
  • The collateral and supplier costs.

Note also that during the period from 2013 to 2018 there have been changes in the value of vouchers. From 1st April 2017 the voucher amounts changed as follows: Gold £250 to £125; Silver £100 to £50; Bronze £50 to £25, and Senior Managers no longer received a voucher. From 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2018 Band 3s also did not receive a voucher.
