We answered

Our Ref:          FOI-2766-1718

Thank you for your request received on 30 December 2017 asking for information about bus CCTV requirements.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we do hold the information you require.

As part of our vehicle specifications all modern buses entering the fleet must be fitted with around 12 CCTV cameras and an on-board digital hard drive to record the pictures. While the contract does not specify that CCTV should be working at all times, we monitor vehicle reliability through independent engineering monitoring and this includes the CCTV systems so any issues can be spotted and addressed. As part of the driver’s walk round check of the vehicle before starting their shift, they would also check operation of the CCTV screen and look at the overhead units for their general condition as an additional safeguard.

If this is not the information you are looking for please feel free to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
