TfL Ref 2763-2021 Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 31 March 2021 asking for information about traffic signal switch offs. Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require. You asked: Can you please provide amount of traffic signal switch off's carried out 2019 & 2020. Can you please provide this information for Junctions and Pedestrian Crossings separately. Please also provide your charges and application process. Below is the number of traffic signal switchout requests as recorded on our Asset Management system for 2019 and 2020 broken down between junctions and pedestrians crossings: 2019 Junction – 3758 rechargeable switchouts Peds – 1633 rechargeable switchouts 2020 Junction – 3835 rechargeable switchouts Peds – 1580 rechargeable switchouts Please note that each switchout request logged may have multiple physical switchouts during the duration of the request (ie if works take place overnight only we would switch the signals back on in the daytime) It also does not log if there is cancellation or if the late notice surcharge was applied. Also attached is our current switch out form which details the current costs and the process for application, as requested.
