Thank you for your request received on 3 March 2022 asking for information about roadwork penalties paid by TfL.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.

TfL does not pay overrun charges to local councils as we are a Highway/Traffic Authority. Any road works we undertake on other authority networks is classified as ‘Works for Road Purposes’ and thus not chargeable under Section 74 of the New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA) 1991.
