Dear TFL, I would like to request the following information under the Freedom of Information Act. Please could you provide me with the count of complete and incomplete journeys recorded from contactless payment from every TFL managed station in London fare zone 1, from midnight on December 1st 2018 to midnight on November 30th 2019: Please break this information down by the following headers in a CSV (comma separated values) spreadsheet: 1. The name of the station 2. The number of complete journeys recorded from this station (accumulated total between December 1st 2018 and November 30th 2019) 3. The number of incomplete journeys recorded from this station (accumulated total between December 1st 2018 and November 30th 2019) 4. How many applications for incomplete journeys were successfully refunded from this station (accumulated total referring to refunded journeys for incomplete journeys made between December 1st 2018 and November 30th 2019)* *If the information to header 4 is unavailable within the time you are obliged to reply, please ignore this last point The meanings of these headings are to be as follows: 1. The name of the station: the name of the zone 1 station where the contactless payment tapped into at the start of their journey, within the specified dates 2. The number of complete journeys: a total of the number of complete journeys made from that station by contactless card payments, within the specified dates 3. The number of incomplete journeys: a total of the number of incomplete journeys made from that station by contactless card payments, within the specified dates 4. The number of applications for incomplete journeys that were successfully refunded: for all of the incomplete journeys made within the specified dates, how many of them went on to be refunded through TFL’s ‘incomplete journey refund’ applications? Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 10th December 2019 asking for information about incomplete contactless payments at TfL managed stations.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.

I can confirm that we hold the information you require. The answers to questions 1-3 are provided in the attached spreadsheet (note that you may need to expand the width of some of the columns to read the data in full). If you apply a filter to the data you can select a station and compare the completed and unfinished journey data. Note that it is not possible to answer question 4 within the £450 costs limit for responding to FOI cases and therefore this information has not been collated.
