We answered
TfL Ref 2736-2021
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 31 March 2021 asking for information about the Knowledge of London accreditation.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. You asked for:
Any information that came from either TfL or the Mayor of London to the Department for Transport or any other government department.
Where a request or a lobby has been made to give accreditation or finance to the Knowledge of London from: 2015 to 2021
I can confirm that we hold the information you require.
Please see the attached email from TfL to the Office for Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual).
We have worked closely with Ofqual for some time to explore ways for TfL to gain accreditation for the Knowledge of London.
Following these discussions, it became apparent that to do so would require significant changes to the Knowledge of London process, making it more academically focussed and ultimately less accessible to some applicants. This was not something that TfL, or the taxi trade representatives that we have previously discussed this with, wanted to pursue further. However, this will be kept under consideration.
If you are considering submitting a further FOI request please think carefully about whether the request is essential at this current time, as answering FOI requests will require the use of limited resources and the attention of staff who could be supporting other essential activity. Where requests are made, please note that our response time may be impacted by the current situation.
If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.
Yours sincerely
