Thank you for your follow up request which we received on 30 October 2023.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we hold the information you require. You asked:

What is the cost estimated to be spent on the Manor Circus roundabout in order to avoid one serious accident every three years?

Our estimated final cost for this scheme is £4,644,042. The cost for the project is not just “to avoid one serious accident every three years”, as you suggest. The cost will have other benefits in addition to safety, including:
  • Refurbishment/waterproofing of the bridge deck to repair damage caused by water infiltration, and prolong the life of the structure
  • Widen and upgrade footways to improve the environment for people walking and cycling
  • Tree planting
