Our ref: FOI-2690-1617

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 30 March 2017 asking for information about cases of sickness in the Techonology and Data Division. I am sorry for the delay in replying.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold some of the information you require.

I would like to know the following information for cases of sickness in the Technology and Data (formally the Information Management) Division:

1. The total number of cases of sickness referred to Occupational Health (OH) services for review and recommendations in 2016 (January - December)

During 2016 there were 43 referrals to Occupational Health (OH) services.

2. The percentage of total cases of sickness where OH advice was agreed with by management and any recommendations were acted upon by the company

3. The percentage of total cases of sickness where OH recommendations were acted upon by the company even where OH did not give a definitive conclusion date that illness was expected to end.

This information is not recorded in a way which can be reported on. Occupational Health provides advice, but does not seek management agreement or record how recommendations were acted upon.

A manual check of the 43 referrals would not necessarily enable us to answer these questions, which would require personal judgement based on the information recorded. Although your request can take the form of a question, rather than a request for specific documents, we do not have to answer your question if it would require the creation of new information or the provision of a judgement, explanation, advice or opinion that was not already recorded at the time of your request.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for some reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
