Date published: 17 December 2019

You asked

clarification: Thank you for your response; I mean any kind of closure: Planned/unplanned road maintenance, local events, Accidents etc I am interested especially on the following months : April, May and June 2017, November 2019 So, you can focus on that, to remain within your allowed time. I am writing to have information, under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, about the closure of roads in central London, during last years, from 2017 till now. Please provide me details of road closures that happened in the period from January 2017 till yesterday 01 November. Details should regard only central London: within boroughs including The City, Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea, Camden, Hackney, Lambeth, Southwark, Tower Hamlets, and should include road names, reason, date and time of closure. It should not include planned closure in the future (irrelevant for my research) The information should be in a spreadshet CSV format, not in Text or PDF

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require.

Please find attached the relevant information from our Traffic Management Information System known as TIMS.

Basis for extraction

  • All events from TIMS (Planned and Unplanned) for the date ranges of the request where the control centre have “closed” the road.

  • Included are lane closures

Notes and caveats:

  • Data is not provided by Borough but full eastings and northings to plot the data are included.

  • A recurring closure (Changing of the Guard) is overrepresented, it’s a singular recurring closure covering many years. Lines 2572-3686 refer.
