Request ID: FOI-2642-2324
Date published: 13 November 2023

You asked

Follow-up to EIR-2117-2324: Thank you for your reply. Your answers to question 4 and 5 make reference to ‘discussions with internal stakeholders who represent the views of bus and coach operators’. Please can you elaborate who these internal stakeholders are, and precisely which PSV Operators and/or representative bodies of PSV operators were part of this process? Previous correspondence has also indicated that my other questions would be answered by the customer service team as they relate to policy. This team has not been in touch with me as yet despite my letter having been received by the Mayor’s Office in August. Please can you give a time scale as to when the rest of my cencerns will be answered?

I can confirm that we hold the information you require.

In the development of Healthy Streets schemes, including the delivery of new cycling infrastructure, TfL actively seeks the input from a variety of mode-specific advocates both internal and external to the organisation. Our internal coach team represent the views of the industry and feedback requirements, whilst being mindful of other stakeholders needs and the Mayor’s Transport Strategy policies. Such requests sit alongside design guidance and standards, and our Engineering teams assess and develop appropriate interventions for each specific location. These designs are then subject to road safety assessments and operational impact assessments where applicable.

Where external input is requested, our coach team discuss schemes with the following organisations representing the bus and coach industry on a national basis:

  • Confederation of Passenger Transport
  • UK Coach Operators Association
  • Road Haulage Association
  • Coach Tourism Association

Whilst these are not statutory consultees, all public consultations are also sent to these organisations for formal comments should they choose to do so.

Regarding the unanswered questions from our Customer Services team, I have sent them a reminder for this to be actioned.

If this is not the information you are looking for please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.
