Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 13th February 2022 asking for SCOOT data from Ealing. Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
Specifically you asked:
“Could you please send me the SCOOT traffic flow / congestion data for the following location in Ealing: - Uxbridge Road/Lower Boston Road junction (Overall junction number and flow/congestion for each branches of the junction) - Uxbridge Road/Hanger Lane (Overall junction number and flow/congestion for each branches of the junction) Could I get these data between 2019 and now?”
I can confirm that we hold SCOOT detector flow and congestion data for the junctions and approaches outlined in your request. This data is in the attached Excel spreadsheets which shows daily SCOOT detector data between 1st January 2019 until 21st February 2022. The data shows the period before the pandemic, followed by a significant drop in flow and then a recovery through the various lockdowns.
The attached Excel files include outputs from ASTRID which records SCOOT information in real time and aggregates it for future retrieval. The information provided is the average long term trend for SCOOT flow and congestion data since 2019. Historic SCOOT data is used to provide an idea of gradual changes in traffic patterns and demand at SCOOT controlled junctions. It is to be used as a guide when making decisions for the operation of the junction. The data provided clearly highlights the effects of the pandemic and how the network has recovered as restrictions have been relaxed.
