Thank you for your request received on 11 February 2022 asking for information about the ADL E400 bus currently being trialled on route 63.

This is an information request relating to the new ADL E400 bus currently on trial on route 63. Please include the following information:
• The number of buses purchased of this model
Abellio has purchased 29 of these buses to operate on route 63, under contract to TfL. These higher spec zero emission buses have been equipped with features like USB points. It is hoped they will encourage more people to use public transport, ensuring revenue is maintained and reinvested into the network, and are also a green alternative to the car.
• The cost of each bus • The added cost of providing phone charging ports on the buses
The cost of the bus is incorporated into an annual total contract price, therefore we do not have a breakdown of the specific costs asked for.
