We answered
TfL Ref: FOI-2590-2021
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 17th March 2021 asking for information about various aspects of TfL.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. Your questions are answered in turn below:
Question1: Please send me a copy of audited accounts for London Dial A Ride, London Buses and London Underground for year 2020-21.
TfL does not hold the requested information. With the financial year 2020/21 only ending 15 days ago the audited accounts for the year have yet to be produced.
Question 2: Which firm will provide tube trains for Piccadilly Line and their costs to lease the trains.
Siemens Mobility Limited have the contract for the provision of new Trains for the Piccadilly line, designated 24TS. This contract is for outright purchase (not a lease) of the Trains and the price is £1.5 Billion, for 94 trains.
Question 3: Will Dial a Ride buy new buses or not in current climate.
Our current fleet renewal plan ensures we remain compliant with the requirements of the Ultra-Low Emission Zone. Our recent procurement means we have completely refreshed the DaR fleet, and we have enough vehicles to meet projected passenger demand.
Question 4: How many bus firms are running buses on contracts for TfL for years 2020-21 and 2021-22 and how much money they will get for their service.
Please see the enclosed document which lists all the bus operators in London and contractual payments in the years 2011-2021. As payments are based on operator performance, the position for 2021-22 won’t be known until some time after March 2022
Question 5: How much money has Mr Shapps given to TfL in grants to date.
Since the start of the Coronavirus pandemic, and up to 18th May 2021 when the current deal ends, the total government support for TfL will be worth more than £3 billion.
Question 6: When will bus operators bring in electric buses in London area please.
This is happening currently with around 455 pure electric buses already in the fleet and the number set to grow to 700 by the end of 2021.
Question 7: How much total cost to buy new buses for Dial a Ride and how many firms made a bid for the contract and how much were their bids for contracts to provide new buses.
The purchase of the new buses was procured in two phases. Four companies expressed an interest to bid for the Phase 1 contract (90 vehicles), however only one company could meet TfL’s low floor chassis specification. Phase 2 (166 vehicles) was awarded as a direct award to the Phase 1 manufacture, as no further suppliers could meet TfL’s vehicle specification. The total cost of the fleet renewal programme is forecast to total £20.4m.
Question 8: Which firms do servicing of all new Dial a Ride buses the manufacturer or Dial A Ride mechanics.
Most servicing is done in-house, by Dial a Ride mechanics. In some instances, software updates for example, the manufacturer will undertake the work.
Question 9: Which firms supply all new trains for London Underground and their costs please.
Siemens Mobility Limited have a contract for the provision of new trains for London Underground. The contract provides 94 new trains for the Piccadilly line and contains options for trains for the Central, Waterloo and City and Bakerloo lines. The contract options for lines other than the Piccadilly line have not yet been exercised. The price for the design and build of the Piccadilly line is £1.5 Billion. Any further procurements will be by competitive tender.
