We answered

TfL Ref: FOI-2573-2324

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 18th October 2023 asking for information about buses.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.

Specifically you asked:

I am concerned about the queues at bus stop F Waterloo Road towards Ludgate Circus. No 26 no longer serves the route as it goes to Victoria, usually empty in my experience. Please can you let me know the difference in the coverage of buses between Waterloo Road and Ludgate Service both pre and post pandemic. The queues are now much longer that they used to be and the coverage would seem to be less frequent. In particular I am looking at buses in rush hour between 7 and 9 am.”

I can confirm that we hold the information you require.

The coverage of buses on this route pre/post the pandemic is as follows:

Pre COVID (i.e. 2019 approximate peak frequencies)

RouteBuses per hour
767.5
3415
267.5
Total20

Post COVID (i.e. current)

RouteBuses per hour
766
3415
Total11

Note that we keep the bus network under continuous review and we will consider additional capacity if demand rises. According to our data a total of 8.4 buses per hour is required to meet demand on routes 26, 76 and 341 in November 2022, prior to the change to the 26. Demand since the change will have decreased due to the loss of direct links on route 26, therefore we are confident capacity provided by the 76 and 341 (11 buses per hour) is sufficient to meet demand. We expect to see highest usage on buses in late autumn and we will be reviewing this specific case as soon as that data is available, to be sure this remains the case.

If this is not the information you are looking for please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely,
