Follow-on from FOI-2312-2122:
Can you confirm the amount of money raised from FPNs during the second period? You say that 1,248 have been issued with fines of £200 - does that mean the amount raised is £249,600? (I.e. 1,248*2)
We answered
Our Ref: FOI-2568-2122
Thank you for your further request received on 8 February 2022 asking for information about the payment of fixed-penalty notices (FPNs) issued from the enforcement of face coverings on our network.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we do hold the information you require.
As previously advised, the £200 penalty is reduced to £100 if it is paid within 14 days following the date of the FPN. People have 28 days to pay so there are still a few FPNs that were issued during this time that are still not due.
To date, we received 554 payments covering the period from 1 December 2021 and 26 January 2022. 526 were paid at £100 and the remaining 28 were paid at £200. The total amount received for this period is £58,200.
If this is not the information you are looking for please feel free to contact me.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely
