As we continue to face problems with the 470 bus exceeding the speed limit on Furness road, I would appreciate if you could provide me with a report of the speeds travelled by all 470 buses on Furness road SM4 during the period 09/01-15/01.

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 10th January 2023 asking for information about bus speeds along Furness Road.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
Specifically you asked:
“As we continue to face problems with the 470 bus exceeding the speed limit on Furness road, I would appreciate if you could provide me with a report of the speeds travelled by all 470 buses on Furness road SM4 during the period 09/01-15/01.”
I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require.
Please note, the information that falls within the scope of an FOI request is that held at the time the request is made. Information to be recorded in the future is not within scope. Your request was submitted on 10th January 2023 and therefore the information within scope covers the 9th and 10 of January 2023 only. However, that said, we are able to provide data for the period 9th to 13th January, which is provided in the document attached. Note that:
The maps show all trips operated by one bus on one day;
The dots are recorded every 1-2 seconds, and each dot is allocated a colour code regarding the recorded speed at that second (any speeds over 20 mph are colour coded yellow).
The maps show that the majority of buses ran under or at 20 mph, while a small number of seconds were slightly over 20 mph.
