Date published: 06 December 2024

You asked

Please treat question as a Freedom of Information request. Dear We would be particularly interested to learn prior to software release whether TfL had signed this feature off? I'm aware that Uber, on their previous license, had a requirement to gain prior approval for new features, however, I'm not aware whether Bolt had the same requirement. If they did have such an obligation and TfL were unsighted , then we would expect TfL to act in an expedient and decisive nature in relation to suspension or revocation of Bolt's Operators license.

TfL Ref: 2548-2425

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 9 November 2024 asking for information about BOLT’s Operator’s licence.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold the information you require.

We are going to publish the Bolt decision note shortly, in the next few weeks, which will include a summary of our consideration of this specific issue.

Therefore in accordance with the FOI Act, TfL is not obliged to supply you with the information you have requested as it is subject to a statutory exemption to the right of access to information, under Section 22 of the Act. In this instance the exemption has been applied as the information you have requested is intended for future publication.

This exemption is subject to a public interest test, which requires us to assess whether the public interest in applying the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosure. In this instance, it is considered that the public interest favours the publication of this information, in context and according to the pre-determined schedule, rather than in response to your request, to ensure the information is provided accurately and in an accessible manner.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
