Date published: 03 December 2019
You asked
I have noticed that the departure boards at stations have more departure information than the Unified API. This is usually seen at terminating or stations close to stations, eg. Oakwood. Please can you supply the data feed that these departure boards use.
We answered
TfL Ref: FOI-2534-1920
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 20th November 2019 asking for information about platform departure boards.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
Specifically you asked:
“I have noticed that the departure boards at stations have more departure information than the Unified API. This is usually seen at terminating or stations close to stations, eg. Oakwood. Please can you supply the data feed that these departure boards use.”
It is not entirely clear what exact type of departure board you are referring to, nor what is meant by “please can you supply the data feed”. We are working on the assumption that you are referring to the dot matrix boards found in stations. These boards receive direct data feeds from the signalling systems. If this does not answer your question, or you require more information, please feel free to contact me again with more details and I can look into the matter further.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.
Yours sincerely,
David Wells
