Thank you for your email received by us on 15 March 2017 asking for information about train driver height. Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding to you.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require. You asked:

1) Could you please provide the height restrictions for a train driver on all services of TfL including Overground which is now run by Arriva Rail London. 

From  a medical perspective there are no height restrictions for Train Operators.  London Overground Train Operators are medically assessed by a separate organisation.

2) Could you please provide the number of drivers who's height exceeds 6 feet and also the height of the tallest train driver on all TFL networks.

We can only provide the details of London Underground Train Operators who have been seen at Occupational Health over the last 5 years and had their height measured. There are 140 who are over 6 feet, the tallest being 6’7”.
