FOI request detail

Traffic control measures on Kenworthy Road, Hackney E9 5RA

Request ID: FOI-2527-2324
Date published: 07 November 2023

You asked

Follow-up to FOI-2233-2324: Thank you for considering my request. If I narrowed the scope of my request to the past three years would that reduce the burden sufficiently?

We answered

TfL Ref: FOI-2527-2324

Thank you for your further request of 12th October 2023 asking for information about traffic control measures on Kenworthy Road, Hackney, E9 5RA.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.

Specifically you asked for the following, covering the last 3 years:

Please provide records of correspondence received/sent by TFL in connection with traffic control and/or public safety on Kenworthy Road E9 5RA (it being a red route controlled by TFL).

Please provide any internal records or memoranda or other documents concerning traffic management and/or public safety on Kenworthy Road E9 5RA .

Please provide traffic and/or safety data in connection with incidents on Kenworthy Road E9 5RA .”

I can confirm that we hold the information you require. However, I am afraid that the scope of the request is still too broad for us to source everything that will be covered by it within the £450 costs limit. The request is therefore being refused again under section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act, as set out in our original response below. Note that in connection with your latest request we ran an automated search of all TfL staff emails accounts for the phrase “Kenworthy Road” for the last 3 years and this returned over 200,000 “hits”. To see which of these fit the scope of the request we would have to manually review them all. Given the numbers involved, this is clearly not possible within the 18 hour limit.

In order to bring your request within the costs limit you will need to narrow its scope further. For example, rather than asking for all “correspondence” or “any internal records” or “other documents” you may wish to be more specific as to the exact information you are after. Note that on the subject of road safety we proactively publish a Road Danger Reduction Dashboard on our website via the following link:

On page 4 of the report you can see the London Collision Map, where you can zoom in on specific areas and roads.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
