You asked
I would like confirmation of an accident that occurred in Elephant and Castle, on the one way system 5/5/17 around 4.30pm. The road going to New Kent Road was cordoned off and all traffic going in that direction was redirected to go through the congestion charge zone in the direction of London Bridge

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 4 December 2017 asking for information about an accident that occurred in Elephant and Castle.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.
TfL’s London Streets Traffic Control Centre do have record of a collision at the location and date you refer to. The incident recorded that on 5 May between 1508hrs to 1839hrs Elephant & Castle was closed eastbound at Newington Causeway, which could have meant that New Kent Road was indeed inaccessible.
